On June 16th, the Work Deployment Meeting for Cross-Strait Exchanges and the 10th Guangdong-Taiwan Youth Lingnan Tour Work Promotion Meeting were held in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. Huang Zhaofen, Deputy Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Guangdong Province and a senior inspector, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Representatives from relevant provincial departments, as well as comrades and staff responsible for Taiwan affairs from the 21 municipalities of the province, participated in the meeting. This year marks the beginning of comprehensively implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The convening of this meeting is of great significance for the comprehensive implementation of the overall strategy of the Party in solving the Taiwan issue in the new era, as well as the decision-making and deployment of the central and provincial committees and governments regarding cross-strait exchanges in the new era.

During the meeting, the heads of relevant offices of the provincial Taiwan Affairs Office summarized the achievements of last year’s exchange work, made specific deployments for the current cross-strait exchange work, and arranged matters related to the organization and support, as well as publicity work, for the 10th Guangdong-Taiwan Youth Lingnan Tour. Huang Zhaofen pointed out in his speech that it is necessary to deeply study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on Taiwan work, accurately grasp the current cross-strait situation, enhance political positioning, and always maintain the correct political direction in our province’s cross-strait exchange work. Efforts should be made to leverage Guangdong’s advantages, create conditions, and promote the implementation of various characteristic exchange projects. Consistency, emphasis on coordination, and solid work should be ensured in the youth work with Taiwan. The construction and management of exchange bases should be further strengthened with distinctive features. Measures benefiting Taiwan should be implemented with dedication to provide services and guarantees for Taiwan teachers and students. The role of non-governmental organizations should be leveraged to build platforms and strengthen exchanges and interactions in various fields between Guangdong and Taiwan, making contributions to promoting the integration and development of Guangdong-Taiwan exchanges and the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
